Patiala DC puts ban on sale of plastic bags
Patiala – The Deputy Commissioner (DC)-cum District Magistrate (DM), Kumar Amit on Friday through an order imposed a ban on the manufacturing, recycling and sale of the plastic bags in the district from April 1. He also issued fresh instructions to the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation here and executive officers at the Municipal Councils in the district as well as the Block Development and Panchayat officers (BDPO’s) in Nagar Panchayats to strictly enforce the ban orders in their respective areas. Amit added that after April 1, there is a ban on the manufacturing, recycling, and sale of the plastic bags and carry bags and also instructed the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), officials to proper coordinate with other concerned officials to bring awareness among the people over the subject. Meanwhile, he also empowers the officials to go for the challenging of the shop keepers involved in stocking and sale of the banned articles. He also asked the concerned departments to start checking off the industry involved in the manufacturing, recycling of the plastic bags and carry bags. Besides he also asked all concerned departments to submit their progress reports within 15 days to his office over the issue as well.
