The royal city of Patiala known for its fountains and lush green gardens has made plans to add more greenery on one of its roads, courtesy the local municipal corporation (MC), which took the initiative of planting some ornamental saplings in the central verge of a four-lane road passing through the New Leela Bhawan Market.
This road, along with a six-lane road, was constructed during the regime of Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh, keeping in view the rush of the people in these areas and to provide better connectivity as well. Though the iron grill was provided on the six lane stretch that passed from the Children Chowk towards the Famous Fountain Chowk. But the central verge of the four-lane road connecting the Children Chowk to Government Rajindra Hospital and Army area while passing in front of New Leela Bhawan Market and the head office of the Income Tax Department, failed to get anything since its construction.
But now to provide greenery and to add to its beauty, the MC has decided to plant these ornamental plants on the central verge, specifically on this road.
Though the MC is tight-lipped over this ongoing project but the people of the city have all praise for this initiative. Karamjit Singh, a resident of nearby Ajit Nagar, said that it was a good initiative on the part of the MC.
