Patiala: The Patiala Police claim to have registered a case against eight employees of the Punjabi University with name and many more employees and officials of the varsity for blocking the Patiala-Chandigarh highway for more than six hours by organizing protest dharna on it thus causing inconvenience to the public in general, who was compelled to face the harassment.
According to the Police, these employees blocked the highways yesterday during their agitation against the university authorities but due to the blocking of the highway a lot of daily commuters faced inconvenience and faced delays in their works. The police register a FIR No. 24 under sections 283, 341, 148 and 149 of the IPC against Rajinder Kumar (Peon), Mandeep Singh, Vijay Kumar, Madam Timmi Kaur, Kashmira, Sandeep, Hardev Babbi Group, Harinder Pal Singh Babbi, Joni son of Lakha, resident of the village Shikhpura and other unknown employees and officials of the university at the Urban Estate Police Station here. The police added that even as the case has been registered in this connection but so far no arrest has been made in this regard as the matter was still under investigation.
