Ludhiana: PAUTA (Punjab Agricultural University Teachers’ Association) is continuing with its protest against the autocratic, dictatorial and whimsical attitude of the Vice Chancellor, PAU Ludhiana. The association is staging protest at Thapar Hall daily since March 17. It is highly deplorable that despite sitting on protest for four days, the administration has not shown any sincerity in resolving the issues raised by the association.
Dr K S Sangha, President, PAUTA while talking to Daily Post claimed,“We will visit each and every stall during the mela and will hand over the black badges to the faculty members. We will also meet the foreigners regarding the matter. Our protest will be started according to the mela timings.”He added, “VC has not yet approached us neither he sent any notice regarding the matter. We want the solution and especially in black and white by VC.
Till then, the protest will be continued. PAUTA strongly resents that Kisan Melas are being held deliberately on holidays for no obvious advantage though causing great mental agony to the faculty and staff by depriving them of quality time with families.”
Further, the association expresses grave concern at the subversion of rules and regulation for favouring some persons (promoting nepotism). Also, the authority of many committees constituted as per the act and statutes of the university is being undermined by thrusting ill conceived proposals and ensuring their passage without thorough deliberations.
The University Employees’ Union and University Fourth Class Workers Union executive are participating in the protests and have pledged to support PAUTA in its demands. Seeing the dilly dallying attitude of the University, the PAUTA has decidedto wear black badges in protest on Friday at the Annual Kisan Mela and to apprise the farmers with regards to the problems being faced by the faculty.
