Jalandhar: Punjab Government started the very first Rural bus service from Jalandhar to provide public of Rural areas a connectivity which was not connected as per the commercial crises. In the first session, 155 buses were launched to serve the people after the Transport Minister Mr. Ajit Singh Kohar flagged off.
While addressing, Transport Minister said that this service under the leadership of Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal and Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal has been started for the wellfare of public of Rural areas. Adding on, he said that these buses will take normal fair as per the directionof Puinjab Government. Talking about the routes of these buses, the Minister said that the routes have been allotted after obtaining feedback from masses to cover the remote areas of the state.
While operating this service, Punjab Roadways has applied 161 of the routes whereas PRTC has applied 106 routes. As per the first session, Punjab Roadways has started 80 buses on the other hand PRTC started 75 buses.
Ashwani Kumar, State Transport Commissioner said that Punjab Government has called the tenders for installing GPS in all the state buses which would be connected to the centralised control room at Chandigarh.Adding on, he said that this would not only beneficial for getting the location of buses but it would be perspective for security purpose as well.
