Patiala: Patiala Police claimed to have recovered 48 bottles of country liquor from a house during a raid conducted on the basis of secret information. During the raid, the police also arrested one woman present in the house and later a case was also registered in this connection.
The raid was conducted by a police party headed by the Sub-Inspector (SI) Manjit Singh.
SI Manjit Singh along with the police party was on patrolling duty and when they were stationed near the Hotel Iqbal Inn in SST Nagar area then got secret information from one of their informers that liquor bottles had been illegally stored in a house in Bishan Nagar area.
On the basis of the information, the police party raided the said house and recovered 48 bottles of the country liquor.
After the recovery, the police party also took in custody one woman present in the house identified as Baljit Kaur wife of Gurjant Singh.
Later a FIR under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act was registered against Baljit Kaur at the Urban Estate Police Station here.
The police claimed that further investigation into the case was in progress. DP
