Police solves blind rape and murder case, four arrested
Jalandhar(DP Correspondent) – With the recovery of Adhar Card of the accused from the crime scene, the Jalandhar Rural Police on Wednesday solved the blind case of rape and murder of a migrant woman in Lambra. SSP Rural Jalandhar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on September 17, a case of rape and murder was registered at Lambra police station. In his complaint Dalip Dass Sharma has stated that his mother Girija Devi had gone missing after a party, which he has organized on the birth of his son.Addressing a press conference, SSP Rural said that after initial search, the broken bangle of Girija Devi was found in the verandah of the house while her half naked body was traced from fields. “During investigation, it came to the fore that some unknown persons had raped the victim and killed her with sharp edged weapons. In a bid to dispose the body, the accused threw the body in the fields”, he said.The SSP said that on they arrested four persons namely Chottu Das Sharma (35), Vikas (27), Biru Kumar (19) and Matlesh Kumar (19) and a case under section 302, 378, 201, 34 of the IPC was registered against them. He said that the accused would be presented before the court.Bhullar said that the accused admitted that on September 17, they had entered the party venue but they were humiliated by Girija Devi and her sons. “Girija Devi and her sons told the accused to ‘get out’ of the party and humiliated them publicly. They thought of taking revenge from her by stealing her cow but she noticed them”, he said. The SSP said that to shut Girija Devi’s mouth, they dragged her to an adjoining room and raped her. “Later, they dragged the victim to nearby fields and threw her in the dark”, the SSP maintained.
