LUDHIANA: Due to breakdown at jumper of 220 KV line from Lalton to Ferozpur road grid, many of the city areas suffered from power breakdown. Power supply remained shut for five hours on intervening night on Thursday and Friday from 8 pm to 2 am.
However apart from breakdown of line, many of the city areas are not getting regular power supply. Residents and industrialists raised their voice over the situation. The areas which got affected due to breakdown included Haibowal, Kitchlu Nagar, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ghumar Mandi, Rishi Nagar, Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar and Sarabha Nagar.
An official of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) told that this was breakdown of jumper at line due to which the residents were without power supply for five hours.
Meanwhile, Sources in the PSPCL told that there was shortage of linemen, therefore, the officials reached the spot late and it took five hours to rectify the problem. Similar is the case in many other cases.
Jagjot Singh, industrialists said, “There is irregular power cut in Manna Singh Nagar though most of the time, we are not able to complete our orders on time. I request the PSPCL authorities to impose schedule power cut once in week though it is becoming problem for us.”
Sarabpreet Singh, a resident of Maharaj Nagar said, “There was unscheduled power cut last night and power came in the wee hours on Friday”, adding the PSPCL officials should have proper back up for maintenance as during summers days it becomes problem for the residents.”
Charanjit Singh, engineer in chief of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) said, “There was some fault in jumper of 220 KV line and it was rectified after few hours.”
