Power Tariff Hike to cast its shadow on coming MC Elections in Punjab
Patiala(Jagdeep Chopra) – It seemed that just eight months old Captain Amarinder Singh Led State government has landed its self in deep waters after the announcement of the Power Tariff yesterday by PSERC as a strong resentment is prevailing among the general public over the issue and it may cast its shadow over the Congress Party’s poll prospects in the coming Municipal Corporations Poll in December. The Power Tariff hike was not received with a welcome even in the home district of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh as more and more people in the royal city and in other parts of the district came heavily against this decision terming it an anti-people and anti-poor one and it seemed that if the state government fails to mend its order then the Congress Party will have to face people’s drubbing in the coming MC polls in December.Interestingly the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and all other political parties in the state have got an important plank to contest the coming MC polls with a confidence and now it’s their ability to cash in the issue as per the ability. Even some of the Leaders belonged to the ruling party on the condition of the anonymity told the Daily Post here that it is going to prove dangerous for the party in the MC elections and the party may face the wrath of the public over the issue. They said that they will work to provide a feedback to the party so that if needed then some sort of amendment be made in this order as the public, in general, be saved from paying for costlier power. Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of the Patiala, talking to Daily Post said that the PSERC announced its order concerning the Power Tariff hike only yesterday and implemented it from April 1, 2017 and its a mockery of the situation as already public paid for the power bills and now after the orders again PSPCL will send them bills according to the revised new rates of Power and adds in their woes with huge arrears. He said that even though PSERC has instructed to claim the arrears in installments but the poor people be asked to pay more from back date.On the other hand, Usha Rani, a resident of Samana, strongly opposing the decision concerning Power tariff hike said that this Diwali gift to people of Punjab received from the state government will ruin the people as they have compelled to dole out more money to foot the power bills. She said that Captain Amarinder Singh has assured the people before the assembly polls that they will get the cheaper power but now he played against them. She said that the government led by Amarinder Singh has badly failed in fulfilling its poll promises and it has to pay a heavy price during coming MC polls.Another resident of Nabha Mukesh Kumar also strongly condemning the power tariff hike order said that Captain Amarinder Singh is working autocratically now and showing that he has nothing to do with the poor people as his government has started taking anti-people decisions. He urged the government to reconsider its decision and amend the order keeping in view the sentiments of the poor people.Meanwhile, a resident of the Rajpura Sunita Rani said that already the Prime Minister, Narinder Modi’s decisions concerning the Demonization and GST enforcement have proved fatal as they have broken the backbone of the people and now this decision of power Tariff hike has come for them a total finisher. She said that it has become very difficult to meet both ends in such a difficult situation and the state government especially the Congress Party know exact conditions of the people so it mends its order and provides some kind of the relief to the people.Whereas Political Leaders belonged to different Political parties includes Former Minister and SAD’s core committee member, Surjit Singh Rakhra, MLA from Sanour Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra, and Shiv Sena Hindustan’s National President, Pawan Kumar Gupta have very strongly condemned the state government’s order concerning the power tariff hike calling it an anti-people step of the government. These Leaders said that after eight months of its rule now the state government has planned to go for the MC elections in December but this decision will prove to be a waterloo for it. These leaders said that their parties stand solidly with the people and this move be opposed by tooth and nail. Rakhra added that see the height of the situation this government came to power as it done tall poll promises with the poor people of the state and now started losing its ground.Interestingly talking to Daily Post President of the National Scheduled Caste Alliance (NSCA), Paramjeet Singh Kainth said that it seemed that within eight months countdown of Captain Amarinder Singh Led state government has begun with such anti-people decisions and it has to pay a very heavy price in the coming MC elections. He said that Amarinder Singh committed for the cheaper power to the poor people of the state but now with this decision, it seemed that he has backstabbed the people.
