Chandigarh: Giving acceleration to the recruitment of over 7,500 police constables and other ranks, Police Department have initiated the process to compile the final result. The selection process had slowed down with Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections in Punjab after model code of conduct came to force.
The process had also come under a scanner with allegations of faulty selection process followed during physical tests at certain district headquarters, sources disclosed adding that a video clip (showing the selection process, physical test), not fulfilling mandatory standards had also gone on wire.
Giving pace to the selection process, Director General of the Police recently held a meeting of the official concerned and asked them to speed up the process. It is learnt that the DGP has also asked the officers to prepare fresh and revised lists, category wise, so that the final results could be declared as soon as possible.
The process as also delayed with a number of candidates staking their claims in different categories and quotas. After the enforcement of election model code of conduct, the state police force got engaged in elections for over a month thus further reducing the pace, an officer disclosed on the condition of anonymity.
The Punjab Congress leaders Sunil Jakhar in December 2016, had also alleged backdoor recruitment of 22 employees in the intelligence wing of state police in violation of norms.
