Education department issues notices to terminate 9 union leaders. After suspending five teachers two days ago, now the Education Department has issued notices to terminate to 9 union leaders, who were protesting during the duty time. Around 100 teachers are under scanner of the department who are abetting to students to speak against the Government in the class room as well as in the protest. Department is also making up its mind to take legal action against those teachers, who released their photo hanging themselves with fan in the classroom to mark a protest. Nine teachers, including eight women teachers have been transferred, who had joined protest against the Government to remote area.
Other hand after the issuing notification, the teachers under the SSA, RMSA have registered themselves to join as permanent teacher after getting information that the Centre Government has reduced their salaries to 15,000 under RMSA and SSA. Official sources told that dozens of teachers have been given regularisation orders on the first days with station of their choice. Talking to reporter, Education Minister said that each teacher has passed probation period for three year and whosoever want to work, will have to clear this period. He also told that more than 94 per cent have given their consent to join in the department in a sample survey, conducted two month ago online.
Before 2009, more than 14,000 teachers under RMSA and SSA had been appointed on the salary of Rs 15000, under the Centre’s scheme on the Police report . Later after implementation of teacher’s eligibility test (TET), 39,916 teachers have been appointed by the education department from 2011 to 2017 with basic pay for three year under the probation. Interestingly, out of 14,000 SSA and RMSA teachers, around 6,000 teachers joined under the recruitment of education department, while number of SSA and RMSA teachers could not able to pass the TET test. Now the number of teachers, working under SSA and RMSA is 8886 out of total 1.12 teachers. But according to Minister, numbers of protesting teachers are very less in number and the protest will not affect the department. He said that the Centre has decreased the salary under RMSA and SSA scheme to 15,000 per month. But the Punjab Government has given option to such teachers either they can choose department or SSA, RMSA.
