Ludhiana: Punjab Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema on Wednesday said that the Punjab government is committed for educating the masses, including our present generation, about the Sikh values and culture.
Addressing the gathering while attending a seminar on the books penned by former MP Tarlochan Singh, at Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, here, he added he said that it was only during the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party government that several memorials for showcasing our rich culture, heritage and history were constructed in different parts of the state.
Dr Cheema said that ever since the SAD-BJP formed government in the state, the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal wanted that our present generation should be fully aware about our rich culture, heritage and history as well as about Sikh values and religion. He said that is why several memorials such as the Virasat-E-Khalsa at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial in Chappar Chiri, Wadda Ghallughara, Chota Ghallughara, Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial in Bassian near Raikot, besides several others were constructed. He said that the Jang-E-Azadi Memorial is under constructed and would be ready soon.
Former MP and ex-vice chairman of National Minorities Commission, Tarlochan Singh thanked the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle for working hard in various fields.Dr Balkar Singh, Dr Kehar Singh, Dr Pirthipal Singh Kapoor, Gurmeet Singh, Inderpal Singh, besides several others were present.
