DP Correspondent , Ludhiana:-On the occasion of Shramdan day, Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore here on Sunday visited Ludhiana. Ludhiana was declared as 123 rank in survey of ‘Mission Swachh and Smasthath’, which has been completed across the district, district Ludhiana has emerged as the second most populous district in the country.
Badnore also congratulated the residents of Ludhiana on this achievement and urged them to make their contribution in ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ started by the Government of India. He further articulated that one should not throw his or her responsibility to another one, they should oneself take the initiative and start for the change.
He said that if the Constitution has given them fundamental rights, then people too have some duties and responsibilities towards the nation. He said that people are fully aware of their rights, but when it came to duty, they throw off their responsibility, which is not right.
Referring to the data received by Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Department during this, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agarwal and Additional Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik said that, to make the country ‘clean and healthy’ till 2019, all the Union Government’s Drinking Water and Sanitation Ministry has taken the initiative to make healthy competition in ‘Mission Swachh and Swasth’ campaigns run in the states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will award the leading districts in this campagin on October 2.
On this occasion, Badnore took part in a cleanliness campaign organized in Ludhiana and also used the broom. The Doordarshan center had aired ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’, which was arranged by the district administration to show the broadcast in many villages. Meanwhile, Badnore also started the ‘Swachhta Sign Campaign’ and appealed to the government officials to try and clean the government offices and public places like their own homes. Many swearing-in ceremonies were also held on this occasion.
