Punjab Govt. to again pass bill to regularise Contractual employees. To regularise the 27,000 contractual employees, the Punjab Government to amend act or will bring new bill in this regard. Such act, The Punjab Adhoc, contractual, Daily wage, Temporary, Work charged an outsourced Employees’ welfare bill, 2016 was passed in Special Session on December 2016, but was challenged in the High Court in March 2017. A three member’s Sub-committee of Ministers, which is constituted to note the grievances of protesting employees, hold meetings with different employees Union’s delegation. Talking to Daily Post, the Chairman of Sub-Committee, Minister Brahm Mahindra told that to discuss on the draft of amendment, another meeting with employees will be conducted in the month of June.Delegations of two groups of Aaganwadi Unions, two group of Punjab Subordinate Service Federation, Old Pension Bahali Scheme (CPF) and PSMS union were called to meet with Cabinet Sub-committee. The meeting lasted for 5 hours. After the meeting, the leader of Aaganwadi Union, Hargobind Kaur told that it seems as if the meeting was to linger on their protest amid the Shahkot bye-poll. But their agitation will continue till the acceptance of demands. Another leader of CITU affiliated Union; Usha Rani told that the Union will start their march on May 28 from Fetehgarh Sahib to the residence of CM in Chandigarh.
She told that sub-committee said that due to election code, nothing can be announced. Another Union, Contractual employee action Committee said the rally, which was to be organised in Chandigarh on May 25 by the Class four Government Employee Union and Contractual Committee, has been postponed as the Sub-Committee has assured to fulfil their demands as the Government is working to amend the act.
