Ludhiana: Local players of Punjab wheelchair cricket association met and handedover the demand letter to Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal regarding the financial help as they don’t have the money to buy the especially made wheelchair for the physically disabled players for the forthcoming matches of the Asian cricket championship for physically challenged people, which is going to be held in the month of the April.
During a healthy chat with one of the players of the Punjab wheelchair cricket association named Dilip Gupta, he stated that all three players of city who were playing for Punjab team facing lack of basic facility and we have urgently requirement of wheelchairs for our players as the days for the matches of the Asian championship is coming near and players were not capable to buy them on their own basis.He further stated that we have made request before Deputy Commissioner regarding the poor financial condition from which we are passing through and gave them demand letter also.
I am playing cricket from school time and my mission is to bring laurels for our country but lack of facilities pushes us back he further added. Players from association bearing all our expenses from past so many years and now, we are in search of company who can sponsor and provide us financial help for further improvement in this game.
While answering about the meet he said that deputy commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal marked our application and asked to meet the concerned department officials. We are going to meet the district sports officer and waiting for the positive steps.
When we contacted one of the sports promoters he claimed that as becoming a player for physically challenged person is not an easy task but if lack of facilities come in its path then concerned department and system should rethink and make some policies for betterment.
