Jhumba (Bathinda): Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Friday claimed that Punjabis living in Canada rejected the Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh by protesting his programmes. Harsimrat said this while interacting with media persons after conducting Sangat Darshan at Jhumba village. She said that in order to save the already tarnished image of Congress, the party was shifting blame on Canadian government “whereas the fact is that Captain has been rejected in Punjab as well as abroad.” Terming the Canada trip of Capt Amarinder as an opportunity to mint dollars and get saved from scorching Indian summers, Harsimrat said that the Congress leaders were not associated with common man and they preferred only the politics of vote.
Answering another media query on Congress leader Sunil Jakhar’s statement pertaining to probing grain scam on coming to power, she said that these were just politically motivated allegations and far from truth. Mentioning various scams of two successive UPA governments, she addressed the Congress as the corrupt ones. She said that the Congress and AAP were purposely taking up the issue of payments of wheat to mislead the farmers, whereas the work on purchase and lifting of produce was going on smoothly. “Both have lost issues to debate on and are creating confusion amongst people whereas in 2017, people are not going to vote for these parties,” she mentioned.
