Ludhiana: Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ferozepur, Anuj Parkash has passed orders to carry out an awareness drive for the public at the railway crossings in order to ask them to pass the stretch carefully.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) would carry out the awareness drives at the manned railway crossings in order to make people aware that they should not do trespassing on railway crossings or otherwise when the iron bars are closed for train to pass.
These orders were passed due to increasing cases of deaths on the railway tracks from the last few years at the Ludhiana railway station and railway crossings of outer areas of the city. On the manned crossings people do not stop and keep passing from there despite sign boards placed there illustrating threat to the lives of passersby.
The Station Superintendent, Ashok Salaria, Ludhiana, said that they have received the orders from higher authorities and they informed to the RPF officials.
In the letter, they have asked RPF to carry out the fifteen days awareness camp at manned railway crossings in the city, mainly in outer areas of the Ludhiana district. They will carry the boards, banners and RPF cops would stop the public and will make them aware that after railway crossings are closed they should not pass from under them to put their lives in the risk.
He informed that within the next few days they would move to different crossings, including Mullanpur and other places, which comes under their jurisdiction. They would take teams of half a dozen of RPF police cops with them, who would stop public and will make them aware.
Awareness through SMSs
Apart from the awareness drive at the railway crossings, the Railways are also going to start sending SMSs in order to make public aware. SMSs would be sent exactly at 7:00am daily, so that people should remain vigilant while moving out on roads mainly.
