Rakhra questions where Rs 1,000 cr for development will come from. PATIALA: Former minister and SAD core committee member Surjit Singh Rakhra, while reacting on Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s announcement about a development package of Rs 1,000 crore for Patiala, urged the Chief Minister to be practical and not to leave the poor Patialvis just dreaming. In a statement issued here, Rakhra said that on one side the state government is making announcements that it received empty coffers from its predecessors and in such a condition can the Chief Minister answer from where this Rs 1,000 crore will come.He said that the government was notable to clear the salaries of its employees because of paucity of funds, then how would it manage to come up with Rs 1,000 crore for developmental works in Patiala. Rakhra termed the announcement of the Chief Minister just a lollipop offered to the people of Patiala. He said that the CM announced canal-based water supply for the royal city with a mammoth amount of over RS 700 crore, but how strange that the poor CM failed to give details of the project about when it was going to start and whether the state government had any type of permission to take out water from the Bhakra canal from the concerned department and what was the mechanism adopted for the pumping of the water and finally when Patiala residents will start receiving water through this system. He claimed that Captain Amarinder Singh made announcements keeping an eye on the forthcoming Municipal Corporation elections and wanted to win these elections by befooling the poor people but said that the people had come to know about this government fairly well within around eight months of its rule and it will receive its just share in the elections.
