Re-open imitation case of convicted Dera chief
Ferozepur – Now, a demand will be put forth after discussing with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to re-open the case of controversy for imitating Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, by recently convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, said Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh of Akal Takht. It is pertinent to mention that Gurmeet Ram Rahim was involved in a controversy on various occasions. He also called himself re-incarnation of various gods. He also added a prefix to his name ‘Insaan’ in 2012 which too courted controversy for imitating as 10th Guru of Sikhs and dressing up as Lord Vishnu. Besides this, Dera head has also been accused of killing of Haryana-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati for his writings against the Dera.Speaking to media persons, Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said that a case was registered against Dera chief in 2007 at Salabatpura Bathinda for offering Jam-e-Insaan by imitating as Guru Gobind Singh in which case he was later on acquitted in August 2014 on tendering an apology. He said that the issue will be discussed with the SGPC for re-opening the case of imitating the Sikh Guru to get justice to the Sikh community for hurting their religious sentiments. He pointed out that legal battle can be better followed by SGPC. He, however, declined to comment about the pressure on the witness Rajinder Singh Sidhu president, Singh Saha Guru Ghar Bathinda.
