Refusing to fee refund, student attempt to commit suicide.
Bathinda- A poor family student asked for the withdrawal of fees from institute but when he did not get it, he used wrong path, which leaves everyone shocked. A student tried to set on fire with petrol on him apposite IELTS institute of Chandigarh. But fellow students and administrators stopped him from the fire. On the occasion, the police team also reached, and took the next action. Harmeet Singh, a poor farmer of village Rupana (Sri Muktsar Sahib), said that he had only a land and his father had also died. To run household expenditure is very difficult. In July, he had joined the IELTS course in an IELTS institute near the bus station with fee of 15 thousand rupees. But it was difficult for him to visit Chandigarh to Bathinda every day, because he was not able to afford daily expenses. So he appealed to the institute’s manager not to take the course and requested that the fee should be refund. Harmeet Singh said that the manager refused to refund the fee. But he was not able to accept that. So he continues to visit to get the fee back. The student further said that today he also brought her mother and sister along. All family members requested that the fees should be refunded, but they did not accept it. Finally, he came with petrol and tried to commit suicide. He said that in the end, the management had paid back the dues.The institute manager, Arpita Behl, has complained to the police that the student had voluntarily given the fee, and then he left the course. They refuse to pay the fee as there are no rules to refund back to any student, who going to leaving the course in-between. In spite of this, this has led to a ruckus in the institute and did the unlawful incident. Therefore, legal action should be taken against the accused.Inspector Davinder Singh, head of Kotwali said that after receiving the information, he went to the institute, where the student tried to set himself on fire but saved. They have taken possession of Petrol bottle and other belongings. The institute manager has complaint that action should be taken against the same. The student’s statement is yet to be recorded. After that the next action will be taken according to the inquiry report.
