Ludhiana: Even after the ten days of murderous attack on Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leader Jagdish Gagneja, the bullets were still inside the body of victim.
From last ten days Gagneja is on ventilator and his condition is worsening day by day. The surgery was not performed due to infection, said doctors attending Gagneja.
Apart from the doctors of Hero DMC Heart Institute, a team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) were also monitoring the health of Gagneja.
On August 7, some unidentified persons had shot at RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja in Jalandhar. Later on, he was shifted to DMC in critical condition. After Gagneja was admitted at hospital, large number of politicians, including Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal visited hospital to see Gagneja.
A senior doctor on the condition of anonymity said that bullets were still in the body and due to infection surgery could not performed. However, they have tried to contain the infection but the condition of Gagneja is becoming more critical. From last ten days Gagneja is on ventilator, he added.
Chief Cardiologist and Head of Research at DMC, Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander said that they were giving best treatment and trying their level best for improving condition of Gagneja but at present the condition is still critical.
The surgery would be performed after the infection is curtailed, said Dr Wander while adding that bullets were still in the body.
The bullets that were fired on Gagneja have damaged his small as well as large intestine. The bullets inside the body led to infection, said doctors attending Gagneja.
Meanwhile, the assailants of Gagneja are still absconding. The Jalandhar police have released CCTV footage of the incident and the assailants and have announced Rs.10 lakh reward for giving information but it has yielded no result so far.
