In wake of growing unrest in public, EC should immediately impose election code in Punjab.
Chandigarh: Taking a strong notice of high handed attitude of Shiromani Akali Dal – BJP ruling alliance in Punjab, Aapna Punjab Party president Sucha Singh Chhotepur said that registration of a criminal cases against the innocent people, workers of other political parties and SAD rebels is like “dissecting democracy.”
He further added that in wake of the growing unrest in public, Election Commission should immediately impose election code or president’s rule in the state.
Referring to an incident wherein Gurshawinder Singh, Sarpanch of village Machaaki Kalan of Faridkot district was falsely booked in an old incident as he refused to extend support to Akalis . It is pertinent to mention that Gurshawinder was given a clean chit by cops in the said case but owing to their high handedness a criminal case was registered against him on November 21st. As a mark of protest against district bar association suspended work on November 25.
Similarly, sitting Akali MLA from Baghapurana having been denied the ticket recently resigned from the party along with some supporters following which he was subjected to threats by the local cops to falsely implicate him in the cases of drug peddling and book his son for involvement with gangsters.
Keeping in view the forthcoming elections, the EC should also order a probe in the incidents , Aapna Punjab Party president added.
