SAD candidate Arvinder Oberoi loses ticket from ward number 51.
Jalandhar – Blame it on BJP’s sway or internal rivalry, SAD candidate and ex-Deputy Mayor Arvinder Kaur Oberoi lost her ticket from ward number 51 on Tuesday. SAD candidate Arvinder Kaur, who enjoyed a considerable support in her area and her ex-councilor husband Kuldeep Oberoi have now announced to contest as independents from ward number 51 and 50 respectively. It was learnt that senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia was behind pressurizing SAD to cancel the ticket of Arvinder Kaur Oberoi. A disheartened Kuldeep Oberoi said, “Manoranjan Kalia has spoilt our career. It was because of him that we joined AAP during Assembly Elections and I admit that it was big fault. Even now, Kalia ensured that my wife’s ticket should be cancelled, which is a sad development. But, our victory from ward number 50 and 51 would bean answer to Kalia.” Kuldeep Oberoi also said that he was a proud Akali leader and would continue to remain one. “Though we have decided to contest as independents but our seat would fall in the kitty of SAD. We were elated when SAD Rural President Ajit Singh Kohar has brought us back to SAD a week ago but Kalia damaged us”, he added.Meanwhile, a press release issued by SAD leader Bibi Jagir Kaur stated that the party high command has cancelled the ticket of Arvinder Kaur Oberoi from ward number 51 and seillded Balwinder Kaur Bhatia in her place. Sources said that SAD leaders namely Bibi Jagir Kaur, Sarabjit Singh Makkar, SAD District President Kulwant Singh Mannan, Paramjit Singh Raipur, President SAD district women wing Parminder Kaur Pannu and others finalized the decision. Interestingly, SAD Rural President Ajit Singh Kohar, who brought back Arvinder Kaur and her husband Kuldeep Oberoi back to the party fold was not present in the meeting. Kohar had got the nod from SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal in this regard.Notably, Arvinder Kaur had earlier contested from ward number 29. The Oberoi couple was facing stiff opposition from SAD-BJP for having joined AAP during assembly polls 2017. Kuldeep Oberoi had even written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Mayor Sunil Jyoti, blaming him of corruption in the MC. Even Mayor Sunil Jyoti also did not lose the chance of hitting the Oberoi couple and he had snatched the Dog Compound project of MC from the Oberoi Couple.
