Ludhiana : The coming General House meeting for the budget turned political even before it actually happened in the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana Zone-A office. As the pre-budget meeting carried out by the Mayor with councillors of the city turned a political battlefield on Tuesday evening at the Mayor Camp house.
In the meeting, Bhartiya Janta Party and Shiromani Akali Dal has taken a stand that they would not let the budget meeting happen on March 30 as the Congress Government has put a stop on PIDB (Punjab Infrastructure Development Board) works, which were commenced by the BJP-SAD Government.
This was the main issue of the meeting, so, not much was discussed in the meeting as it turns political with the blame game by opposition councillors.
Though, the Congress councillors said that meeting would definitely be carried out as due to any political problem development work of the Ludhiana cannot be stopped for the petty issues at all.
It is pertinent to mention that a day before the meeting Interim budget of 1,248 has been made by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana.
Its copies were sent to all the councillors on whose basis a meeting was kept at the Mayor house. Around 77.17 percent of the budget amount would be spent on the development works of the city and 2.36 percent amount would be kept for surprise works in the city.
In meeting, it would be put in front of the councillors to get it through, but due to the problems between the BJP-SAD and Congress councillors, this meeting may face some heat due to the political issue regarding PIDB.
The Mayor of the City, Harcharan Singh said that issue would be resolved and he carried out this meeting to overcome the lapses in the budget. He wanted that collectively all the lapses should be cleared.
