Anandpur Sahib: British fought their last battle in 1849 with Sikhs and one would never offer a gift to his enemy, therefore, people who claim that Kohinoor was gifted to the British people appear ridiculous. These thoughts were expressed by Member Parliament from Anandpur Sahib Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra here at Anandpur Sahib on Sunday. He said that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would make all efforts to bring back the Kohinoor diamond as it belongs to Punjab and the party president Sukhbir Singh Badal has already asked the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to file a caveat in the court in this regard.
Prof Chandumajra also criticised the Canadian government for not allowing Capt Amarinder Singh to hold political rallies in Canada. He said that Canada is a democratic nation where every individual should have freedom of expression. Prof Chandumajra told that he would raise this issue in the coming Parliament session. Answering to a query on the issue of disappearance of food grains, the Lok Sabha MP reiterated that the government did not indulge in any type of fraud. He refuted the charges and said that the Opposition parties do not have any political issue against them; therefore, leaders from the Opposition parties are stooping to the lowest level to defame the SAD. He also revealed that the full payments to the farmers for their yield would be made within the next week.
The payment has already been credited in the accounts of Arthiyas, and from Monday, they would start making payments to the farmers. He shared that the FCI was asking the state government to incur the cost of transportation and labour and it caused a delay for the payment to the farmers. Now the matter has been resolved and the farmers would get the payment very soon, Prof Chandumajra added. Prof Chandumajra was at local Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College to participate in a seminar on ‘Dialogue on Inter-State Language Unity’ organised by the Hindi Lekhak Sangh New Delhi.
