Patiala: In a twist in the infamous Nabha Jailbreak case, it was established that gangster Gurpreet Singh Sekhon after returning to Punjab after the conclusion of polling for the state assembly on February 4, came into contact with the gunhouse owner Kiranpal Singh through one of his relatives and later struck a deal to purchase weapons.
This fact was established during the interrogation of Sekhon and it also come out that it was his cousin Manveer Singh alias Mani Sekhon who helped him in getting the weapons.
Top officials of police involved in the interrogation of the arrested gangsters, on the condition of the anonymity, further said that after striking a deal with Kiranpal Singh for the purchase of weapons needed, then Sekhon contacted henchman Ramanjit Singh alias Romi in Hong Kong and briefed him about the deal with Kiranpal.
The officials added that after getting the due briefing about the deal, Romi sent the required funds from Hong Kong to Sekhon to finally get the weapons. Sekhon made all the payments to Kiranpal in dollars for procuring the weapons.
Meanwhile, grandfather of Sekhon, Sucha Singh, alleged that in the real sense Gurpreet had nothing to do with any kind of gangs and he was just facing political vendetta as their family was a traditional Congress family, so on the instructions of top Akali leadership his grandson was being trapped in one or other cases. He claimed that Gurpreet also worked for Congress like a dedicated partyman and this fact went against him and on the instructions of SAD leaders, the police had named Gurpreet in false cases one after the other.
