Amritsar: Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences in Guru Nanak Dev University(GNDU) organised a national level seminar, titled “Recent trends in plants and environmental sciences” on Friday. More than 200 scientists, academicians, research scholars and students from every part of the country participated in it.
The seminar was inaugurated by eminent scientist, Prof Satish C Bhatia from Department of Botany, Delhi University. Senior scientist, Dr Sunil Kaul of National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan delivered the keynote address in the inauguration function. Prof Satwinderjit Kaur, welcomed the distinguished guests.
Prof Avinash Nagpal and Prof Renu Bhardwaj delivered very useful information on how to protect and maintain the plants which in turn, protect the environment from being polluted. The two also stressed the need of conducting research in bio-diversity, genetic texicology, anti mutagenesis and cancer chemo prevention.
