Amritsar: Following the death of father of Shiv Sena’s district vice president, Suraj Gosain, in the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital on Batala road here, the activists of Shiv Sena’s local unit came to blows with the hospital staff last evening. It was only after the timely intervention of police personnel, called up by the hospital staff that the agitating activists were pacified. The Shiv Sena activists who were for a magisterial probe into the death of Gosain’s father, however, has served 48 hours notice to the hospital and the police to sort out the matter failing which they would start indefinite dharna outside hospital.
According to sources,Rakesh Gosain, father of shiv sena’s district vice president, Suraj Gosain, had been admitted to local guru nanak dev hospital as he complained of breathlessness yesterday.
In the afternoon, doctors attending on him in the medicine unit of the hospital asked the patients’s kin to shift the patient to the ICU of the hospital. However, it was not time. Later in the evening when the patient was sent to ICU his condition had deteriorated and the doctors in the ICU told that the patient’s condition was very critical and he could have been brought to the ICU earlier.
The patient however died after time. Following this, the patient’s kin held the doctors of medicine ward responsible as they did not shift the patient to ICU on time. The agitating sena activists reportedly came to blows after heated arguments with the hospital staff, which had to requisite help from police personnel.
The police employees pacified both the groups, however, sena activists served an ultimatum of 48 hours to the hospital staff to sort out the matter, failing which they had threatened to launch an indefinite stir outside the hospital.
