Sidhu put CM in crisis, distribute development cheques to defeated MLAs
Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga): The Local Body Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has brought the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Sidhu to a crisis. Sidhu has got disbursed the cheques of development funds through Chief Minister Amrinder Singh to some defeated MLAs of Congress for the 36 Nagar Panchayats. In the first cabinet meeting after the formation of the government, the Chief Minister had announced to abolish the Halqa incharge system under the abolish of VVIP culture campaign as it was also a part of congress manifesto. In this regard, a function cum press conference was organised in Punjab Bhawan, today. Known to his words, when asked about it to the Chief Minister, he said during the 10 years of Akali regime, no congress MLA has been invited in such type of function. Later, Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar clarified that the check was on the name of working agency, whereas the leaders (runner up in assembly election) have been asked to monitor the development works. After this function, members of CM’s staff were seen speaking annoyed words to Sidhu outside the conference hall. In fact, such a move was a breach of Chief Minister’s decision, which had been taken earlier.Sidhu was seen irritated in the check distribution function. Earlier the function was to be held at Municipal Bhawan, but the venue was changed by the CMO staff to Punjab Bhawan, ignoring Sidhu’s plea .Perhaps Irritated with the delay for an hour of CM, Sidhu was seen speaking something.Even before the arrival of the Chief Minister, how many and how much funding checks should be given to the Nagar Panchayat, he has told without keeping any curiosity.In the Punjab Bhawan was less space and even the MLAs had to work hard to get a chair. Function was attended by the sitting MLAs as well as defeated MLAs and former MLAs. Satwinder Kaur Bitti Sahnewal, Jagbir Singh Nakodar, Kewal Singh Dhillon Barnala, Khushbagh Jatana Talwandi Sabo were among those who were defeated in assembly election and to whom were given cheques of Development Fund. Inderjeet Singh Father of an MLA from Zira, Kulbir Singh was also received check on the behalf of his son.
