Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested six more accused allegedly involved in the attack on Sikh preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale. The police have also recovered Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Scorpio from the accused when they were travelling to Anandpur Sahib from Jalandhar.
The three accused were the residents of Chowk Mehta (Head Quarters of Damdami Taksal) district Amritsar while three accused were native of Ferozepur. The police claimed the direct involvement of six accused in attack of Dhadrianwale in which his aide Bhai Bhupinder was killed at South City road in Ludhiana last week.
The accused have been identified as Gurvinder Singh alias Goldy, Amarjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh of Chowk Mehta Amritsar, Gurmeet Singh, Gurnam Singh and Pritam Singh of district Ferozepur.
Commissioner of Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh said that following the tip off a special check point was installed in Jalandhar from where six accused were arrested. During the investigation the accused have confessed their crime.
The accused will be produced in the court and after taking the police remand the weapons used in the crime will be recovered. The police will also know the whereabouts of the absconding accused during the investigation, added top cop.
Till now the police have arrested total 14 accused in the case so far. The police officials claimed that around 30 persons were involved in the attack.
The accused have confessed their association with Damdami Taksal but the police are still silent over the issue. The police have not revealed the name of mastermind of the attack.
Four accused sent to Jail, Police remand of four extended
The police have produced eight accused in the Court of Judicial Magistrate under high security cover. The court has sent four accused to jail on 14 days judicial remand and also extended the police remand of rest of four accused for two days.
During the court hearing large numberof supporters of Damdami Taksal were present in the court premises and raised slogans in support of arrested persons.
Ruckus, were created in the court complex when around six persons tried to barged into the court room at sixth floor. The supporters also misbehaved with journalists and cameramen covering the court hearing. Later, the police intervened and averted the scuffle.
