Smog paralyses life badly, causes delay in wheat sowing.
Ferozepur – Dense smog continued to disturb the general life of people for the eleventh consecutive day. Due to this, all the activities of the people had been badly affected. Almost all the trains had been affected so badly in the region that as per information given by Railways, about 200 trains had been running several hours late than their scheduled times. In Ferozepur division, almost all the Mail, Express and other trains on long routes have been running late by five to 15 hours than their scheduled times, due to which the railway passengers have been affected badly. Most of the transporters had instructed their drivers to drive their buses very slowly without taking any risk or bothering for the timetable, due to which many buses are also reaching two to five hours later than their scheduled times. But the most affected are the farmers who cannot sow wheat crops in these days. As the temperature dramatically went down several degrees than its routine, it is not favourable for sowing wheat crops. Interacting with Daily Post, many farmers said that in the absence of Sun, the temperature went very down drastically due to which the moisture in the soil remains on the higher side, but the farmers cannot sow seeds of wheat in such high moisture. They stated that generally in the Sunny days the moisture dry up with the heat of the sun, which favours the wheat seeds to grow, but in these days as the temperature which was 35 degrees a fortnight before had gone down to the 20-21 degrees Celsius as maximum and 12-14 degrees minimum, due to which the farmers cannot preparing their fields to sow the wheat.
