Fatehgarh Sahib: A special session on health and fitness was held at Om Parkash Bansal Modern School, Mandi Gobindgarh.
Fitness enthusiast and entrepreneur Pooja Munjal said according to studies, on an average, children spend two hours in front of the TV everyday.
During this time, they spend the time eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just snacking and they tend to eat more potato chips, cookies, sweets, soft drinks, and junk food.
She said that this habit that was so ingrained in today’s society had very bad consequences.
Cautioning parents, she said that this definitely lead to obesity and other diseases like high cholesterol or even diabetes. She emphasized on how good nutrition could be incorporated in the foundation years of a child.
Chief Guest of this special session, Co-Chairperson of the School Saloni Bansal said that for the better health of a child, we should keep a strict check on the food habits. Instead of junk food, we should encourage children to enjoy homemade items. The school principal Sangeeta Sharma said that instead of being in front of a screen, children should encourage to exercise daily, outside if possible.
