Ludhiana: The stage is all set for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Tuesday. A day before the PM visit heavy police force was deployed at Ferozepur road and surrounding areas. The Agricultural University where the event is scheduled was totally sealed by the cops.
The team of Prime Minister Narendra Modi including ministers, officials and security teams from Delhi reached Ludhiana and checked arrangements.
Union Minister Kalraj Mishra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch two schemes including National SC/ST Hub and Zero Defect Zero Effect scheme during his Ludhiana visit on Tuesday. The SC/ST Hub would provide support to entrepreneurs from the members of SC and ST community that would help them in public procurement.
He further said that his MSME ministry has made an initial allotment of allocation of Rs 490 crore for the period 2016-2020 for the National SC/ST Hub. The Hub would primarily aid in strengthening market access/linkage, monitoring, capacity building, leveraging financial support schemes and sharing industry best practices, he added. Union minister Giriraj said that another scheme Zero Defect Zero (ZED) Effect scheme would enable the MSMEs evolve and grow by providing them adequate training and funding to move up the value chain and produce quality products.
Police check bus stand, railway station
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit, the Police team led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Balkar Singh conducted a special checking at interstate Bus terminal (ISBT), railway station and other Public places.
Balkar Singh said that the luggage of suspicious persons was checked and the cops were keep vigil on ant social elements in city. During the checking nothing objectionable was found, he added.
More than 3000 cops were deployed for the security arrangements and all the entry and exit points of university is sealed. Only the residents of university were allowed from gate number 4, that too with identity proof.
Cong leader to show black flags to Modi
Local congress leader Gursimran Singh Mand announced that he will show black flags to Prime minister Narendra Modi during his city visit in protest. He said that Modi has made huge promises but failed to deliver for the people.
