Subsidy worth 1.58 crore for self employment to 632 unemployed youth. The district administration has identified 632 unemployed youth for self employment under Pardhan Mantri Rojgar Yojna besides arranging loan to start their own business, they will be given the subsidy to the tune of Rs 1.58 crore, said Kanwalpreet Brar Deputy Commissioner, while presiding over the meeting of district task force constituted to identify the beneficiaries for self employment schemes. DC directed the officials that to fulfill the economic needs of the underprivileged and below poverty line section of the society and to make them self sufficient, the banks and the concerned department officials should organise camps to inform them about various government sponsored benefit schemes for their welfare by way of self employment.Hardial Singh Chatha Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) said that all the departments have been directed to educate the people particularly the youths about the various self employment schemes of the government initiated in the district, so that they may benefit. He directed the lead bank officer to ensure that all the banks must put sign boards in front of the branch informing about the schemes and the amount of loans to be given.He said that one can also get online information about the schemes on www.kbiconline.gov.in or on cell number 95010-19020. Harjinder Singh Pannu General Manager District Industrial Kendar said that for general category youth 15 per cent subsidy is given for starting unit in urban area and 25 per cent in rural area, whereas for SC/BC category 25 per cent subsidy is given in rural as well as urban areas.
