Bathinda: Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday termed former cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu ‘a commodity,’ which is available with a price tag.
“Sidhu has made himself a commodity, which can be purchased paying the demanded price. He is bargaining in the politics just like the TV shows. The way he is behaving, it is clear that he has hardly any morality. One day he condemns Congress but the other day after getting handsome offer starts heaping praise on it. I am pretty sure that if we offer him bigger price, he would come happily singing paeans to us,” said Sukhbir.
About the former AAP state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur’s political outfit – Apna Punjab Party, the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “More the merrier. I wish everyone should come up with political outfits and test the water in the forthcoming elections.”
Asked the announcement of SAD candidates, Sukhbir said, “There is no doubt about our candidates as we have already told them and people may also well understand from the conduct and gestures. If you ask about Bathinda, Sarup Chand Singla is standing between you.”
While lambasting the AAP, he said that the AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has shunned his responsibility as Chief Minister and has eyes on grabbing power in Punjab.
“The way he is ready to leave Delhi people in lurch to come in Punjab, I doubt after Punjab he would do the same here with a lust of next state,” said Sukhbir.
Earlier, in Faridkot, Sukhbir disclosed that world class arrangements have been put in place at the Punjab Institute of Sports (PIS) in order to train budding players of the state from young age which would make Punjab the sports powerhouse of the country. He also revealed that an agreement has also been inked a prominent university of Australia to provide training in different sports disciplines to these players in order to enable them to compete at world level. Expressing these views while gracing the occasion of Baba Fakar Dass memorial kabaddi cup at Dhimawali village as the Chief guest, the Deputy Chief Minister further informed that the state government would bear the cost of educational and training expenses of the players receiving training at Punjab Institute of Sports.
Meanwhile, Sukhbir at Ludhiana said that senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi’s contribution for Sikh Panth, Punjab as well as Punjabiat was enormous and unmatchable. He said this addressing the gathering while attending the second barsi samagam of Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi at Gurdwara Tahliana Sahib, here.
Later, the Deputy CM also laid the foundation stone of Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi College of Professional Studies at Bassian Kothi, near here. This college is being constructed by the I K Gujral Punjab Technical University.
