Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Monday organised a special function in the Teja Singh Samundari Hall of Harmandar Sahib here to felicitate the president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Manjit Singh GK and the members of his team who were able to post a magnificent victory over their rivals in the DSGMC elections held on February 26. President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sukhbir Singh Badal graced the occasion and also felicitated GK and his Delhi-based aides, who swept the polls and registered a scintillating win over Sarna group as well as other rivals.
Addressing the gathering, SGPC president Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar described the victory of GK and his team in DSGMC polls as a surprising one. “The scintillating victory has astonished all the intelligence agencies and even the political analysts, who were vying for the rival group,” he remarked while expressing the hope that the SAD too, would repeat the history by making a hat-trick when the results of Punjab assembly polls would be announced on coming Saturday (March 11). Calling GK to be his younger brother, Badungar, however, asserted that both SGPC and DSGMC were two sides of the same coin, poised to serve the humanity.
SAD supremo Sukhbir Singh Badal congratulated GK and his teammates for registering a thrilling win over Sarna group and other rivals. He asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which boasted of its government’s achievements in New Delhi, failed to open its account even. “It was the win of remarkable developmental works undertaken by GK during his last tenure and I hope that he and his coterie would maintain their tempo and come up to the expectations of Delhites,” he pointed out while asserted that both rival parties of SAD in Punjab, Congress and AAP, were poised to bite the dust after five days when the results of Punjab’s assembly elections would be announced next Saturday.
Sukhbir asked SAD activists to tie up their shoes as they would have to work and perform with more rigidness this time because Punjabis were going to ensure SAD third successive term. “All this would happen simply on account of tireless efforts of SAD team members, who had to strive their every nerve to make things happen and please all and sundry in the state by serving them upon each and every front during the past ten years,” Sukhbir remarked, while eulogising the achievements of SAD-BJP governments of Punjab, which ruled the state for two successive terms.
