Chandigarh: Latest controversy involving AAP, which now stands accused of tax evasion, shows moral degradation and the deep-rooted criminal mindset prevailing across the rank of party, said Punjab Congress. Pointing out that this was only the latest in a spate of scandals in which Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had been caught ahead of Punjab Assembly elections. Punjab Congress said on Friday, said that AAP’s claim to being clean and a party with a difference have completely flattened.
Congress leaders urged the Election Commission to take due cognizance of the matter in interest of ensuring a healthy political environment in poll-bound Punjab. Punjab Congress was reacting to reports that Income Tax Department had found a mismatch between the records submitted by AAP to the Election Commission and those put up on its website.
The fact that `donation’ list has been deleted by AAP from its website, which now says it’s `under construction’, clearly indicates that IT findings were not baseless, said PPCC leaders Laal Singh (MLA) and ex-MLAs Gurpreet Kangar, Surinder Singla and Nathuram.
While the first notice was sent on June 1, next two were sent soon thereafter i.e. on June 6 and June 16, respectively. All three had been ignored by Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP, noted PPCC leaders, alleging a serious criminal fraud and demanding a thorough probe into the matter. From sexual scandals to fake degrees, AAPleaders have been in the eye of the storm over all kinds of shameful controversies, the PPCC leaders pointed out.
