Ludhiana: The Teej festival was celebrated at Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park. The whole campus was resounding with melodious Punjabi songs.All the participants were dressed up in colourful Punjabi attires. Beautifully dressed up with traditional Punjabi jewellery, they performed foot taping dances bhangra, giddha and various forms of Punjabi folk dances.
To add colour to the celebration, the whole stage was decorated with phulkaris, streamers and flowers etc for giving it the theme of Teej.The function was an amalgam of discipline and celebration as the non participant students were in the school uniform and maintained total decorum.While appreciating the efforts of students, the school Principal Harmeet Kaur Waraich said that young minds keep brimming with confidence.
Their creativity comes out through such functions which are organised for keeping the Punjab tradition alive. She told them importance of this festival with reference to Punjabi culture.
The students also enjoyed the rides on the swings and relished kheer and malpuras. They wished happy Teej to each other and promised to continue this tradition in coming years.
