Jalandhar: A truck driver was shot at in an attempt to loot him at Jalandhar-Pathankot Highway near Kishangarh village on midnight of Saturday. Truck driver Jaimal Singh of Kalyanpur was admitted in a nearby hospital where he was under observation. Jalandhar police reached the spot and registered a case against the two unidentified youth.
As per the police sources, truck driver Jaimal Singh stopped his truck on the highway to answer nature’s call on midnight of Saturday near a dhabha at Kishangarh Chowk. When he was just entering back in his truck, he was took on a gunpoint by two masked youth who came on a bike. The assailants asked Jaimal to hand over his purse to them. When he told them that he just had Rs 700 in his pocket, they searched his pockets to check for the same and on finding that he was telling the truth, they got angry and fired at him. Robbers fled away on their bike when they saw that people from nearby dhabha were coming towards them.
Driver was admitted in a nearby private hospital where he was out of danger. Kishangarh Police Post Incharge Salinder Singh reached the spot and started investigations. Nobody saw the number plate of the robber’s bike as it was dark on the road. “We have registered a case against two unidentified youth. I am sure the robbers are from some nearby place and will be traced soon”, Salinder Singh said.
