Two accused flee from police lock up
Kapurthala(DP Correspondent) – Two accused who were in police custody managed to flee from Fattudhinga police station in Kapurthala in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The accused duo managed to break open the iron grills of the window and flee, as the cops on duty were sleeping. The duo was arrested in a truck theft case. The unaware cops on duty came to know about the incident at around 3 am, whenSHO Parminder Singh went to check the police station. SHO said that the accused have been identified as Gurdev Singh and Harpreet Singh both residents of Pandori Kalan village of Tarn Taran district. The SHO said that Munshi (constable) Mohan Lal and guard Avtar Singh who were on duty have been suspended and also booked for deriliction in duty. DSP Variyam Singh said that a fresh case was registered against the accused for breaking the custody. He said that the accused scaled the wall to reach the ventilator and removed the iron grills. As per police sources, the cops on duty were either sleeping or they were totally careless. The accused easily managed to flee, the police said.
