Pataila: A lot of money has been spent by the government to increase the green belt in the country to fight out the increasing pollution level and global warming. On the other hand, Sub Divisional Township of Samana is facing negligence by the administration as the place has become the hub of deforestation. A colony under the name of seven cities’ was developed in 2003 near the Bhawanigarh Chowk in Samana and then the tree plantation drive was carried out in a major way in that very respective area to impart it a green look. Sources revealed that during that time saplings were planted on the road sides in the colony areas and with the passage of time those saplings turned into full grown trees.
When contacted for a clearer view into the matter, the Deputy Commissioner, Ramveer Singh said that its an illegal act and he has asked the SDM, Samana to file report over it and take action as soon as possible. Whereas District Forest Officer, Ajit Kulkarni said that the colony area was not a part of the forest area and now its under the Municipal Council ,Samana and MC is fully entitled to take any kind of action against such an act.
On the other hand when contacted the Executive Officer (EO) of the Municipal Council, Samana, Gurdarshan Singh earlier tried to run from his duty but when told about DC’s order to SDM over the matter than he said that he will send the officials from the MC to inquire the whole matter and take action if possible. Similarly when contacted the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Samana, Rajesh Chhiber told that he was out of the station but sending his cops to inquire and take legal action if needed into it.
