Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), which is probing recruitment scam in Local Bodies Department (Municipal Corporations and Committees), arrested one more person, taking the total number of arrests to 24.
According to sources, Dilbaag Singh of Nihal Singh Wala in Moga was arrested by VB on Monday, and the accused was yet to be produced in local court till the filling of report. Whereas, Dinesh Yadav, resident of Sikander, Agra, who was arrested few days ago is in police remand till June 24. Pritpal Kumar, who allegedly collected money from at least 15 candidates, was also nabbed by vigilance officials few days ago.
As of now, three FIRs have been registered in the recruitment scam. First FIR was registered on April 6 at Mohali, after which the probe began in local bodies recruitment examination. Second FIR was registered regarding the scam for posts in Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation (PUNSUP) on May 24 and the third one for posts in Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) on May 25. ‘Agent’ Dinesh Yadav had links with Lucknow based Guruji and Sham Lal Gupta, an Akali councillor from Malout, whose name has already figured in the scam. Gupta is said to be close to SGPC Member, Dayal Singh Koleyanwali and has not been arrested. Recruitment Scam:
