VB nabs STO, constable, head constable for accepting bribe
Chandigarh – State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption on Thursday nabbed head constable and constable red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000. Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Head Constable Lakhvir Singh and Constable Gurbinder Singh both posted at Police Station Sadar Chak Duhewala in Sri Muktsar Sahib district were nabbed red handed on the complaint of Dilbagh Singh of Buttar Sharinh village in Sri Muktsar Sahib district.The complainant has approached the VB that the accused head constable and constable were demanding Rs 10,000 for helping him to make a compromise with the complainant. The complainant further said that he had already given Rs 10,000 as a bribe to them. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused head constable and constable were arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.Meanwhile, State Vigilance Bureau nabbed Taxation Officer-cum-Proper officer red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 13,000. Disclosing this here an official spokes – person of the Vigilance Bureau said State Taxation Officer (STO) Gurjeet Singh posted at ward no.-2, Jalandhar-1 was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Advocate Raju Ambedkar of Ram Vihar, Jalandhar. The complainant has approached the VB and that accused Gurjeet Singh STO was demanding Rs 20,000 for issuing the final assessment order of his firm and the deal was struck at Rs 13,000.
