Chandigarh: Vigilance Bureau Punjab has arrested Patwari, Bikramjit Singh while accepting bribe money of Rs 10,000 for registering Ancestral Mutation, on Friday.
Disclosing this, an official spokesman of the the VB said that the Patwari was arrested on the complaint of Sandeep Kaur a resident of Village Jakhowal Tehsil Baba Bakala, district Amritsar. It was stated that 2 kanal 17 marla agricultural land was in the name of her deceased husband who died in 2007. When she went to the accused Patwari to get the ancestral mutation registered he asked for Rs 20,000 in lieu of the official work done.
She pleaded for getting the work done in lesser amount to which the Patwari agreed to do it by taking Rs 10,000. The Spokesman further said that Sandeep Kaur did not want to get the work done by bribing the official. Instead she complained against the said Patwari to the DSP VB Amritsar, Navjot Singh.
Taking immediate action after registering her complaint, the DSP laid a trap and caught Patwari Bikramjit Singh red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 and initiated proceedings against him.
