Young farmer commits suicide under debt burden. On Sunday, Avtar Singh Golu (22), son of Kisan Jang Singh and Mata Karamjeet Kaur who belonged to Mangewal village in Barnala district, committed suicide by consuming poison.
After interacting with the brother of the victim, Baldev Singh, the victim’s family found that Avtar Singh was mentally disturbed over the family debt burden. He consumed a toxic drug by buying that from a nearby shop on July 27.
According to DMCH doctors, the consumed poison was having parakeet dichloride salt, which is very dangerous. A person who swallows this medicine can only be kept alive on oxygen for a few days, but cannot be saved.
On that moment, village Sarpanch Jagroop Singh said that his father had three acres of land which has been sold.
