SGPC installed portrait Nawab Rai Kalah Golden Temple museum. A historical painting depicting the Tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh blessing a sacred relic Ganga Sagar to Nawab of Rai Kot Rai Kalha as Bakhshish was installed in Sikh Museum in Darbar Sahib Complex on July 24, 2017. The ceremony to unveil the painting was performed by Jathedar Akal Takhat Giani Gurbachan Singh and Head Granthi of Harimandir Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh jointly.Remembering Nawab Rai Kalha, who was a devout Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh at that time, Giani Gurbachan Singh said the painting would inspire the Sangat to stay dedicated toward the Guru and render selfless service. For installing the painting, Kalha’s successor and Pakistan’s former member of Parliament Rai Aziz Ulha Khan also sent a letter thanking the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
The Indo-Pak peace activist Satnam Singh Manak and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Jagjit Singh Talwandi handed over this letter to additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhura Kohna.SGPC had announced to honour Rai Aziz Ullha Khan who is Kalha’s ninth generation descendent who has kept the sacred relic with respect. He was invited by SGPC for this event but he could not attend due to a very short notice given by SGPC. Rai Aziz, who has been residing in Surrey in Canada these days, told babushahi.com that it was not possible to travel to India at such a short notice.
He said he felt very proud of his elders who had helped Guru Gobind Singh risking their own and other family member’s life. “I am indebted to every one for so much love and affection towards Rai family,” he said.
