Restaurant overcharging: While hanging out in a restaurant with family and friends, if you ever find your bill in which the charges are made on the basis of previous rates and is not following of the norms of GST, then you can make a formal anti-rewarding complaint, which is however, not easy. According to the report of the Economic Times, the Central Excise and Customs Board have uploaded an anti-sponsoring application form on its website so that potential complainants can use it.You have to provide a lot of details while filling the form of issued by Central Excise and Customs Board for filing a complaint. For this, the hotel’s GST number, its naming code, how much tax was taken on the bill given in your hotel and how much was before, how much is now etc. is to be provided. Along with it, other documents must be provided such as Self Attested ID Proof, Invoice, and Rate List. The complainant must declare that the information which is given is correct.According to the CBEC, an affected consumer can apply in the prescribed format in front of the Standing Committee of anti-veterinary. If the profiteering is of local nature then its complaint can be made from the Standing Committee or the State level inquiry committee. Both of these institutions investigate the complaint made by the consumer. Upon completion of first level, if the complaint is found correct and if the proof is found, then the committee sends the complaint to the Director General (Defense Services) for further investigation. The Directorate generally takes two to three months to investigate a complaint and the complaint is again sent to the non-monetary authority. For the final decision, the Director General sends the report of the complaint to the National Anti-Prostrating Authority. The National Anti-Fertilizing Authority will see that this is true or not, then it will be ensured that the consumer has to pay only at the reduced prices.
