Chandigarh, April 17: In future, the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) will not be alone to issue grants funds/cheques to Panchayats, one more employees in the department will get to signing authority along with BDPO. The Rural and Panchayat Development has taken this decision to keep a tab on officers after the number of Panchayats officers have been found indulged in fund bungling.Moreover, it was the demand of protesting Panchayats Secretaries. Accepting the demands of protesting Secretaries, the Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa has formed a four member committee to avoid delay in salary release in which two members are from Union of Panchayats Secretaries and two from department. Panchayats Secretaries had been protesting for last few days in favour of their demands. A meeting was held in Vikas Bhawan, Mohali to sort of the grievances.Talking to daily Post, the minster Bajwa told that all the demands has been accepted, which were concerned with his department and rest has been put forwarded to the Government. It was the major demands of the employees that they have been given salary vary late and for the last 11 months, they have been waiting for their salaries. Four members committee has been formed, who will suggest the way in this regard. To put the Panchayats Secretaries in old pension scheme, the department has put the case forwarded to the Finance department. It was also decided to fix 4 percent of quota to appoint Mela Officer from the employees other than BDPOs.
