Facebook has been trying to be more than just a casual social media platform from the past few years. Facebook will now help donors to connect with those in tough time. Facebook is lending a hand to help the problem of safe blood shortage in India. From October onward, users in India will be able to sign up to become blood donors via their profile or by clicking on a designated promo message on the News Feed. Users have to submit info regarding their blood group and do they donate blood earlier or not. Facebook promises to keep your details private, but you can choose to share a simple donor status with others on the timeline.Moving further, the company will also make it simple for donors to connect with institutions and individuals in need of blood. Pages and users alike will be able to share special posts in order to make requests. Facebook will then automatically notify nearby donors to get involved or help spread the word. Donors will be able to respond to the request directly through WhatsApp, Messenger, or a phone call after reviewing the post. Again, user info will be kept confidential from the person seeking blood, until or unless you choose to provide your details.Like the “crisis response” assistance tool of Facebook (which connects victims of disasters with locals offering aid), the blood donation tool will also integrate into the platform’s overarching safety system. And, if it proves effective, Facebook may even decide to roll it out elsewhere in the future.
