Ludhiana based Industrialist, JP Singh who is on a work visit to Azerbaijan visited Atashgah Temple in the capital city Baku of Azerbaijan and found Gurbani written on the walls of the temple. Getting in touch with the authorities and local people , he found out through various stories that the temple was rebuilt in 18th century and was closed in 1883 when Russia took over as few parts were destroyed. Scripts of ‘mool mantar’ were written here in 18th Century.
According to the local people, there is no concrete evidence of whether Guru Nanak Sahib visited the place or not but it is hinted that Guru Nanak might have visited the place on his way to Baghdad.
Managing Director, Ramtex Group JP Singh further made an appeal through video and wrote to the authorities of the temple management to preserve the holy writings with glass so that such an historical evidence of Sikhism can be maintained for the visitors of Baku he also added that all the expenses will be beared by sikh sangat when the temple manages takes the initiative to preserve the holy scripts.
